- What we saw in a beautiful nature setting -

I was looking for Buca Middle School! Halime Kadın, whom the people of Buca know very well, pointed to an old pine grove resting on the hills of Buca, embodying the green and purple colors of nature: "There she is," she said.

- What were you going to do?

- I'm a journalist, I was going to meet you.

"I understand," said Halime Woman. ''Understood. Shall I teach you something?"

- Teach!

- Do you know why it is called Buca?

- No!

- More than a hundred years ago, a benevolent Englishman named Mister Buç lived here. Back then, it was a small, village-like place with seven or eight families. Mister Buç was such a benevolent man that when people wanted to commemorate this place, they would raise his mister and say Buç, Buç. Mister Buch is dead, but his name is inherited.

- Thank you Halime Woman!

Buca Middle School, leaning on a beautiful nature decor, is airy and cute like a sanatorium. One believes that he adds something to his life, not only by studying, studying, but even by spending an hour or two here. Mr. Faik, the esteemed director of the school, responds to my speech: “You have the right, he says. Especially the students coming from outside benefit greatly from the atmosphere of the school. Those who gain five, eight, ten kilos a year are not short of demand.

- When was this place founded?
- Five years ago. The buildings and this wide grove belonged to a famous Greek wealthy, known as "Ispartali" in Izmir. When the enemy occupied İzmir, Ispartalı gave it as a gift to Venizelos, who was the prime minister at that time. This building, which was left to the party after the restitution, was finally left to the order of the Ministry of Culture to be used as a school building.

- What is the number of requests?

- Our school was diverse. It currently has 350 students. 120 of this total (total) are lei (boarding). We have 50 female students. If our yacht section was available, this figure would increase to five hundred. So far, we have graduated 217 graduates in five years.

- Your studies?

- It's normal. We don't have much to do.

- They say that smoking is not allowed in your school.

- It's more or less the same thing you've been told. There is a "Nicotine Fighting Branch" in our school. This branch has a small regulation and a propaganda organization depending on this regulation. There are some kids. They have become accustomed to smoking while they are still in school. I believe in their secret drinks the day we suddenly say to them: "No smoking in school!" We all smoke even though we know the harm of smoking. In this respect, we have created an organization that can be considered useful within the school. No, we cannot say that "we have created an organization". The children formed an organization among themselves. Every new student entering the school is obliged to register their name in the "Nicotine Fighting Branch". Smokers have the right to smoke in a place designated by this branch. Smoking is prohibited elsewhere. "The Fight Against Nicotine Branch" tries to explain the harms of smoking to the students by making propaganda and exposing the harms caused by cigarettes with cartoons and live paintings. I think it is more reasonable and beneficial to talk about the harm of smoking by appealing to the child's consciousness. A feast is given by the ''Nicotine Fighting Branch'' at the end of the year in the name of those who cause this propaganda. All these preoccupations, at least, distract the students and do not make them accustomed to smoking in the school.

- American propaganda -
It is impossible not to admire this American-like propaganda method. With this original invention, the school administration, which strengthened the sincerity of the student-teacher with more frequent ties, wants to give the student as much as possible within the principles established by the Ministry of Culture. The student is the teacher's friend, the teacher is the student's secret partner and everything.

- Director Mr. Faik explains -

- The school's honor council and the police council are inactive. In two years we ... medicated the student. I think there's a reason for this. Since our school is far from the neighbourhood, it is very easy to warm up to the students and the school administration. After getting closer to our interest, he tries to hide himself from the actions that will break and offend the school administration.

- Demand Institutions -

- There are many benevolent institutions in our school that will keep the students busy. The library branch, the hars (culture) branch, the animal and plant (plant) protection branch, the social aid branch, the red Crescent youth branch, the performance and sports schools, the music, painting and nicotine branches have bound all students to themselves with a duty. It can be said that there is not even an unemployed, non-duty student at school.

- Gifts from California -

- A series of valuable works, albums, California dried fruits and brochures prepared about the work of health institutions in America were presented to our school from the national health organization affiliated with the Junior Red Cross (American Red Cross). This establishment is now asking for a response from us. In order to be able to respond to this, our student has immersed himself in the pleasure of working day and night. We are preparing separate principles (books) about student organizations, student organization and student work. In addition, we will add a magazine to it and send it. We prepare gifts from Aegean region fruits, especially grapes, figs and hazelnuts. We will send these to the "Junior Red Cross" institution in two weeks as a response.

- Zoo -

One of the rich and original corners of Buca Middle School is the zoo. Doctor Halid Hakkı, the nature teacher of the school, showed me a monkey while he was showing the zoo. This monkey is one of the main themes of the school.
