Restoration of Rees Mansion continues

- Restoration of Rees Mansion continues -

As a result of research conducted in recent years, the restoration work of the Rees Mansion, whose construction dates back to 1870 and 1887, continues.

Although it is used as the deanery building of Dokuz Eylül University Buca Faculty of Education, the mansion, which has been neglected for many years, is surrounded by metal barriers and scaffolding has been installed at various points of the mansion. It is noticed that the additional reinforced concrete structure, which was very badly added to the western part of the mansion in the past, was demolished and thus the historical main building was saved from this ugly addition. In addition, repairs continue on the roof of the building.

The restoration project, which was covered by the investment budget fund of Dokuz Eylül University, was put out to tender in June 2023, and thus the restoration process, which will be carried out in stages, began. During the restoration process, the aim is to repair and renew the building's exterior surfaces, balconies, roof and interior halls. The meticulous restoration process may take a long time to complete, but it is estimated to be completed in 2024.

- Asparuk House is also being restored -

Restoration work continues in the historical Buca house on 79th street. The house, where the Asparuk family lived for many years, became a ruin as a result of arson in 2021, after remaining empty in recent years. It was appreciated that this historical house, which has been in ruins for about three years, was not abandoned to its fate and the restoration work was started.
