Restoration of Buca Dokuzçeşmeler, which has been on the agenda since 2016, has started. The restoration, realized in cooperation with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Department of Historical Environment and Cultural Heritage, is expected to be completed in the autumn of 2018.
It is expected that after the restoration project, water will be supplied to the fountains and the fountains will be made to flow again after many years and serve the people of Buca.
Buca Dokuzçeşmeler was built in memory of the Ottoman Sultan Abdülaziz's visit to Buca in 1863 and is known as one of the oldest historical monuments in Buca. When urbanization did not begin in Buca, the waters coming from the northern hills were accumulating here and the people of Buca were able to benefit from the water.
