- The historical houses of Buca continue to disappear -
The historical houses in the historical Yaylacık and Adatepe neighborhoods, which are outside the protected area of Buca, continue to disappear, especially due to the constructions made in recent years. Finally, two historical houses located at the intersection of 69th Street and Kıbrıs Street in Adatepe Neighborhood were demolished and construction work started in their place.
The final arrangements for the protected area in Buca, whose final shape was given in 2007, came into effect in 2016, and most of the historical Yaylacık and Adatepe neighborhoods were left outside the protected area.
These two structures have joined the historical Buca houses, which have been destroyed in recent years, and apartments are being built in their place.
This area, which is formed by the Yaylacık and Adatepe neighborhoods and known as the "Yukarı Mahalle", is known as the oldest residential area of Buca, dating back to the 1700s. Although the majority of the neighborhood is Greek, it is stated in various sources that when Turks first came to Buca at the end of the 1800s, they settled in this area and a Turkish and a Circassian neighborhood were also established.
