- Kızılçullu Station has been renovated: May Buca Station's turn come next -
The restoration work of the historical station buildings in Buca's Kızılçullu settlement has ended. Although it is not officially opened yet, details are expected to be announced soon. The buildings are planned to be evaluated as a museum. The station buildings were given permission at the beginning of 2022 and work has been continuing since this weakening.
The exact construction date of the two historical buildings, one used as a lodging and the other as a station building, is unknown. It is estimated that it was built around the same time as Buca Station. With a photograph that emerged recently, it became clear that the station buildings existed at least in the early 1900s. In the photo, the station building and the passengers in front of it can be clearly seen.
While the restoration and renewal of Kızılçullu Station is welcomed with joy, the uncertainty over Buca Station continues. Buca Station suffered a fire in December 2023. After the fire, walking path work started in January on a part of the old Kızılçullu-Buca railway line overlooking the Buca Faculty of Education, but there was no visible development regarding the station. It is hoped that the station can be saved with the work to be done within the framework of the project. Buca Mayor Erhan Kılıç made the following statement about the station: ''Our project, which will create a big change, will be completed within three to four months. We are implementing a wonderful project that includes a tartan track, a bicycle path and playgrounds for children, where our citizens can walk and jog in the mornings. Located in the heart of the city, this 2.8-kilometer-long area will be like its counterparts abroad with its new architecture. Our project also includes the old Buca Train Station. The station's survey project is currently ongoing. This place will merge with the line. We will also place an old locomotive in the area. "We will revitalize the historical texture of Buca."
